Terms of Service

These terms apply to the Mataanaha app and the services offered through it.

Mataanaha is operated by Stichting KHAYR Foundation, a foundation registered in the Netherlands.

Mataanaha is a mobile app for discovering, buying, reading and listening to Islamic ebooks and audiobooks, with a Qur’an section (the Madani Mushaf, recitations, prayer times, Qibla and Tasbih) and a Community section (videos, articles, announcements, events and giveaways).

You can use much of Mataanaha without an account. To keep books in a library, buy content, rate books, chat with support or register for events, you need an account. You must give accurate details and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at once at help@mataanaha.com if you think someone else is using it.

You must be at least 16 to create an account.

You may use your account on the phones and tablets you own. We may limit the number of devices that can be signed in at the same time and let you sign out other devices from the app. Sharing your account with other people is not allowed.

Purchases are not yet open. When they open, the price shown in the app before you confirm is the price you pay, in the currency shown. Purchases on iPhone and iPad are made through the App Store and purchases on Android through Google Play, under their terms; card payments through another provider are offered only where the app stores allow it. We do not store your card details.

Purchases belong to the account they were made with and cannot be transferred to another account.

Under EU and Dutch consumer law you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content that is delivered immediately, you lose this right once delivery has started with your express agreement and your acknowledgement that you lose the right of withdrawal. Before you confirm a purchase, the app will ask for that agreement.

Refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are requested from and decided by Apple or Google under their rules. For other purchases, contact help@mataanaha.com. [Refund terms to be finalised in legal review before payments open.] Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

When you buy or are given access to an ebook or audiobook, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read or listen to it in the Mataanaha app for your own, non-commercial use. You may not copy, share, resell, lend, publicly perform, extract or redistribute the content, remove any protection, or use it to train software. Authors and publishers keep all rights in their works. Qur’an text and recitations come from licensed sources named in the app; their licences apply.

Free samples are offered to help you decide. They may be changed or withdrawn at any time.

You may not use Mataanaha to break the law, to harm others, to send spam, to attempt to gain access to other accounts or to our systems, to interfere with the service, or to copy content in breach of the licence above.

Reviews must be your own honest opinion of the book. We may hide or remove reviews that are spam, abusive, off-topic, contain private information or clearly break these terms, and we may reply to reviews as the publisher. We never change the stars or words of your review. Community videos, articles and announcements are provided by Mataanaha; comments and user-to-user messaging are not offered.

Each event or giveaway has its own description and, for giveaways, its own official rules shown before you enter, including who may enter, dates and prizes. Giveaways are not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Apple Inc. or Google LLC. We may cancel or change an event; registered people will be told in the app. Registering for an event or giveaway does not subscribe you to any marketing.

We work to keep Mataanaha available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or withdraw features. Content availability may differ by country.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, after telling you why where the law allows. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing help@mataanaha.com. Deleting your account ends your access to purchased content.

We are liable for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence and as otherwise required by law. We are not liable for indirect damage, loss of data caused by your device, or problems caused by third-party services (app stores, payment providers, network operators) that we do not control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Dutch law or your statutory consumer rights.

Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the law gives you the right to another court.

We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with its date and tell you in the app of important changes; continuing to use Mataanaha after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the app and delete your account.
